Highlights of the Rhine Valley
& the Black Forest
Make a journey through two of Germany’s most beautiful regions! Enjoy picturesque landscapes, enchanting historic and riverside towns, wide vineyards as well as the impressing Rhine River during your tour in the Rhine Valley and the Black Forest.
Suggested Programme
Arrival and dinner at your hotel.
Start in the Rhine Valley with a river cruise from Bingen to St. Goar. Enjoy the marvellous panorama of the Rhine Gorge with its enchanting villages and its impressing nature and admire the famous Lorelei rock during this boat ride.
Then, you make a short stop in Boppard, which is a famous winegrowing centre of the region. Stroll along its famous riverside promenade or have lunch and a glass of local wine in one of the restaurants.
As a last stop for the day we recommend Koblenz, which is one of Germany’s oldest towns with more than 2.000 years of history. During a city tour you discover the most important sights such as the Monument of Emperor Wilhelm I at “Deutsches Eck” or the town’s landmark, the “Schängel” Fountain, in the courtyard of the Town Hall.
Visit Rüdesheim – famous wine town and home of the world-known Drosselgasse with traditional cafes, restaurants, shops and bars. First, you get a short overview of the city, before you take the cable car to the Niederwald Monument.
Enjoy amazing panoramic views of Rüdesheim, the shimmering waters of the Rhine and the green vineyards. Afterwards, you can take part in a wine tasting in one of the restaurants in the Drosselgasse.
In the Black Forest, we recommend to start with a scenic tour. As the region is famous for its cuckoo clocks, you stop in Schonach, where you see one of the region’s largest cuckoo clocks.
You continue to Triberg, where you find Germany’s highest waterfall. Then, you have different options. You can visit the Black Forest Museum, which offers a wide collection of Black Forest tradition.
Alternatives are a visit of the Dorotheenhütte in Wolfach or the Black Forest Open Air Museum in Gutach. See glassblowers and glass grinders at work, have a look in the engraving studio and take a stroll through the glass shop, which presents an impressing selection of decorative articles and gift ideas, at Dorotheenhütte.
In the Black Forest Open Air Museum you can find out, how people have lived and worked in Black Forest farmhouses over the last 400 years.
Do not miss the university city of Freiburg during your stay in the Black Forest. Discover its marvellous old town with its world-famous Gothic cathedral (Minster of our Lady) during a city tour.
Later, you enjoy more of the region’s beautiful nature during a boat ride on Lake Titisee. You can close your day with a walk on the lakeside promenade or a coffee and a cake in one of the cafés at the lake.
Depart for your trip home after breakfast.
