Journey to Austria.
Innsbruck
The Tyrolean capital of Innsbruck is unique; a busy, traditional city surrounded on all sides by the splendour of the Austrian Alps and unspoilt mountain countryside. A stroll through the historic heart of this small city will show you the “Little Golden Roof” (the landmark of the city) and the imperial palace. The imperial church houses the impressive tomb of Emperor Maximilian. Afterwards take the Nordkettebahn, a combination of a funicular and gondola lifts to several stops and all the way up to the Top of Innsbruck. Enjoy a 360° panoramic view of Innsbruck and the surrounding mountains from an altitude of 1,334 m – no other peak can be reached with such ease and comfort.
Another sight worth visiting is the famous Berg Isel ski jump (optional, not included). Learn interesting facts about Innsbruck’s connection to sports and the Winter Olympic Games (which the city has hosted twice) and enjoy a coffee and strudel as well as the view.
Bergbahn Kappl – Paznaun
The perfect setting for an unforgettable hike in the mountains offers you the mountains of Kappl. The cable cars of Kappl are the most convenient and safest way to get up the mountain. Once you’re at the top, you will be awed by the spectacular views of the Silvretta mountain range. After a little hike enjoy a typical Austrian lunch in the mountains. In addition, some free time will be available for taking pictures and more.
If you’re looking for something to do in the afternoon, we recommend making your way to the so-called Ötzi Village (optional, not included), an open air museum dedicated to the famous natural mummy of a man who lived between 3400 and 3100 BCE that was found in the Ötztal Alps in 1991 and was given the nickname “Ötzi”. Here you can find an exciting representation of life, housing and economics in the Neolithic period with authentic huts, weapons and tools. Old breeds of household animals (for example Mangalica pigs, Przewalski horses, Soay sheep and Blobe goats) are also on show in the outdoor enclosure. Directly adjacent to the village is the Birds of Prey Park (optional, not included). On an area of around 5,000 m², eagles, buzzards, hawks and kites make their rounds in daily flight demonstrations Around 25 to 30 rare birds of prey live here in pairs in the aviary all year round. Cared for and trained by professional falconers, birds of prey are the undisputed stars in the flight demonstrations. You can also visit the birds in the aviaries (half an hour before and after the flight demonstrations).
Silvretta High Alpine Road
The Silvretta High Alpine Road links Tirol’s Paznaun Valley with Montafon Valley in the Austrian Province of Vorarlberg. This 10-kilometer scenic highway climbs up to Bielerhöhe Pass and Silvretta Reservoir, 2,032 m above sea level, and winds through an Alpine wonderland. You will stop on your way at the “Wildererhütte” and will visit their game park. Here you can see deer, proud ibexes, funny marmots and other local species. At the petting zoo rabbits, goats and other sweet little animals are waiting to be petted and fed. Afterwards lunch at Wildererhütte.
You can also make a stop at Galtür and visit the unique Alpinarium (optional, not included). This very modern museum is dedicated to the relationship between man and nature in the Alps. The unique building is part of the town’s avalanche protection wall and it is both a space for exhibitions and art as well as a reminder of the ever-present dangers of avalanches in winter and the destructive power of nature.
